-: Bevel Gear :-
A gear which used for transmitting power at a constant velocity ratio between two shafts whose axes intersect at a certain angle is known as bevel gear .
-: Terminology of Bevel Gear :-
The terminology of bevel gear are as follows -
1- Pitch Cone :- An imaginary cone , whose surface contains the pitch lines of all teeth , is known as pitch cone .
2- Cone Center :- That point where the axes of two mating gears intersect each other is known as cone center . It is the apes of the cone . It is denoted by 'O' .
3- Cone Distance :- The length of pitch cone element is known as cone distance . It is also known as pitch cone radius.
4- Pitch Angle :- The angle that the pitch line makes with the axis of the gear is called pitch angle . It is denoted by '𝚹p'.It is also called as center angle .
5- Addendum angle :- The angle subtended by the addendum at the cone center is known as addendum angle . It is denoted by '𝛂'.
6- Dedendum Angle :- The angle subtended by the dedendum of the cone center is known as dedendum angle . It is denoted by '𝛃'.
7- Face Angle :- The angle subtended by the face of the tooth at the cone center is known as face angle .
8- Root Angle :- The angle subtended by the root of the tooth at the cone center is known as root angle .
9- Back Cone :- An imaginary cone and its elements are perpendicular to the elements of the pitch cone is known as back cone .
10- Back cone Distance :- The length of the back cone element is known as back cone distance . It is also called back cone radius .
